[ Only recently she learned what celebrating the holiday entails. People play tricks and give treats. However, it's been mostly tricks throughout the month. ]
Weeell... I found it just today. It wasn't there when I left for breakfast, but when I came back... there it was!
Halloween...? Wasn't that the name of the freaky shop that replaced the clothing store? Who would celebrate that?
[Once someone tells her it's a holiday, it's going to quickly become her least favourite one though, thanks!! Anyway, more important right now is the letter, and Rita waves Fio in the direction of her cabin, since that's where her own letter is, if Fio really wants to see it...]
Hmm, so it was sometime this morning? I got mine last night... They called you their "little sister" there, didn't they...?
[Which seems...weird. Fio doesn't have any siblings on the ship, does she?]
[ She follows Rita to her cabin. Let her see, let her see! ]
People who want to have fun and get candy! [ A pause. ] But I know it hasn't been fun. It's been so scary...
[ At most, she knows the fun parts of celebrating Halloween, like dressing up and scaring away the ghosts with costumes. The mean ghosts, anyway. ]
Jinx used to, but no one around the ship really calls me that anymore...
[ At least not verbally anymore. Sure, perhaps there are multiple people that view her like a younger sibling, but no one's ever said it outright like Jinx once did. ]
[It's a good thing Rita threw the bloody stained shirt at Shi Qingxuan; it's probably best if Fio doesn't see that part of the prank, so it was pretty...unsettling gross.]
Yeah, I don't really see the fun or candy part here...
[Or any appeal at all, really. Aside from candy--if that's what Halloween is about, Rita might like it, but so far, all she's seen is that awful store, these stupid pranks, and the ship falling apart around them. How much longer until it all just sinks into the ocean?
...Rita unlocks her cabin, holding the door open so Fio can come on in to an even worse cluttered mess than usual. She stares at the little girl, though, as that name gets her attention in all the wrong ways.]
Jinx? You're sure?
[There's something sharp in her voice, and anger in her expression. Hmm...if it really is Jinx...she'd been playing pranks on Natsuno, hadn't she? Tormenting him until he had enough-]
[ The store has a bunch of creepy merchandise, but there's quite a bit of fun, cute-looking things to look at as well. Like princess dresses and animal costumes. But that might take some digging around...
Fio steps inside, dodging all the clutter. Although she's mostly here for the letter, she glances around curiously at the rest of the room. ]
Your room's reeeally messy...
[ Only a look of mild surprise, since Rita's expression feels rather sudden. Fio's somewhat aware that Jinx very likely doesn't get along with... some people around the ship. ]
I'm sure! But I'm not sure if it's her that wrote this... it doesn't look like her writing at all!
[Rita will visit the store sooner or later (read: get not-quite-dragged there) and discover the absolute horrors of Halloween, though for now...
Rita blinks in confusion for a moment; isn't everything messy right now, with the ship the way it is? Well, whatever, she's a bit more interested in that Jinx information right now--as she lets the cabin door swing shut, she glances at Fio's letter again.]
You don't think she could've disguised her writing? If she was already doing this much in secret...
[...It'd be so convenient if it was Jinx. It would be a perfect excuse for Rita to get back at that freak for everything she put Natsuno through, but...she can't just storm off and accuse someone again without proof, so--
She tosses her shopping bag on the bed, and, more-or-less thinking out loud...]
--Looks like planning a trap was the right idea...
Hm... I don't know why she would. [ She pauses to consider the possibility. Why bother being sneaky about it though? ] Maybe she misses being a big sister...
[ Then her fingers tense around the letter, partially wrinkling the edges of the paper. Her head lifts up attentively, as she listens to Rita's musings aloud. Eyes widening in mild alarm. ]
A trap? [ A beat. ] ...What kind? Do you think it'll work?
[ The odd tension in her body quickly fades. Fio stares at the various objects scattered all over the bed, not looking very impressed. She was expecting some sort of magical trap from her.
[Huh...Fio didn't seem as impressed as Rita was expecting, but--well, she supposes someone couldn't just guess the spell she plans to put on her bait. Maybe Fio's just going along with it...but she is a genius after all, so she ends up looking pleased, even if she'll never admit it!]
Ha...you know it! Whoever it is claims they wanna be friends...so I'll put a little something out there for them, and then--
[She nods, as if that's all there is to it. Because really, all she needs to do after that is use her tracking spell to lead her straight to the culprit!]
[Rita's a genius after all! Fio surely appreciates that, even if the culprit is her "big sister" or whatever (although...knowing that relationship she has with Jinx does put a damper on picturing blasting that freak...)]
Well, this will let me figure out who's responsible, anyway. Whatever comes next... I'll figure that out when the time comes.

[Like, really suspiciously!]
And they left a--dirty shirt from that clothing store. But I didn't keep it.
[Because she threw it at Shi Qingxuan, thinking he'd been the culprit.]
no subject
[ Frowning, she looks back down at her own envelope curiously. Hm. Wonder why she didn't get anything weird? ]
Do you think it's the same person who wrote all those not-so-nice things on the doors?
[ If it is a person... ]
no subject
Rita takes a closer look at the writing on the nearest door, and frowns.]
These ones have a totally different style, though it's possible... I mean, seriously, how many stupid pranksters can there be on this ship?
Anyway--when did you get that letter?
